This charming Savoyard village, with its traditional stone and wood architecture has its own good sized skiing area is particularly well suited for families. Easily accessible by car, the village is respectful of its traditional architecture: chalets and farmhouses made completely from wood, just as it has been for centuries.
The village also has a relatively large permanent French population, which gives it with an authentic quality compared to some more internationally renowned ski resorts.
A year round destination
Most of those who reside in Combloux spend their days in the Evasion Mont-Blanc ski area which covers 6 resorts, 125 ski lifts and 445km of manicured pistes (and some challenging off-piste) stretching from 580m to 4808m altitude.
Boarders can enjoy the Mont Joux snow park at the heart of the Evasion Mont-Blanc ski area and this area also offers the steepest slopes and off-piste. Beginners are well catered for and the whole area is well known for its excellent mountain restaurants in the shelter of the highest peak in Europe.
But Combloux isn’t all about skiing and there is a wide choice of exciting alternative activities of offer. You can ice skate and play curling at the nearby Sports and Convention centre in Megève. If you are more adventurous, you can soar across the Alps with your own paragliding session while the rest of the family take a sledge dog ride through the snowy terrain. Horse drawn carriage rides let you explore the area at a much slower pace, only stopping perhaps to taste of some local produce at one of the 100 year old farms.
